Good afternoon Gess families,
We wanted to let each of you know of a situation that arose today during school. As we were navigating the lunch/recess period, we had several students who became dysregulated. These students escalated and staff felt it best to place the school into a lockdown, so our hallways were clear. The dysregulated students were contained and the lockdown was reduced to a modified lockdown, where students remain in classrooms but teaching continues. This allowed the administration to assess the situation and determine the appropriate response moving forward. At that time, the building lockdown was released and classes resumed as normal.
The safety of students and staff is our utmost priority at Gess Elementary and in the Chewelah School District. Should you have any questions about our procedures, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Gess Elementary administration. Thank you for your continued support!
Mr. Eli Holm, Assistant Principal
